There are some nice recipes in this but not as many as I had thought there would be. The breakfasts are rather fussy - Broccoli and Cheese Pie? Muffins and scones which have to be oven-baked? - and I would rather they had been omitted altogether and more lunch and dinner recipes included. The pages are unnumbered and there is no index. One recipe includes chicken stock as an ingredient. I hadn't realised it was an American book so the quantities are measured in cupfuls which is rather irritating. The names of some of the ingredients need to be translated. Quantities are not exact; 'a loaf' needs to be preceded by weight e.g.an 800g loaf. I look forward to a revised edition. It doesn't cover enough ground to be taken seriously as a diet plan as there are only menus for seven days. It would be better just to call it 'Calorie-counted Vegetarian Recipes' and let slimmers work out the daily menu plans for themselves.

A slim "pamphlet" which lacks substance. The basic premise is good but the execution lacks detail. The recipes are a bit vague which calls into question the calorie counts and there is no indication of how many servings a recipe makes. A revised version, addressing some of the current inadequacies would be worth reading.

Wasn't impressed with this, poor quality printing, the meal plans are unrealistic (muffins for breakfast - who has time for that?) and all the measurements are in cups so not accurate.

A carefully structured and very readable guidebook. Unlike other books of its kind, this book provides day by day recommendations alongside ingredients lists, recipes, and calorie counts. The format works well, and there are some interesting suggestions to experiment with! Can't complain at roasted red pepper sandwiches for lunch and pasto pesto with parseley and walnut for dinner. Looking forward to the next instalment.

Loved German Apple Pancakes and the no-bake macaroni and cheese. Author not only provides these really original recipes but also helps walk you through the whole diet process. So it makes the whole process a lot easier, and the recipes will probably be used for a long time to come. If you're looking to lose weight and / or maybe get into a vegetarian lifestyle this is a good one for you.
