Review Text

  • By Jane on 27 April 2014

This s is a well-known set of stories by Arthur Morrison, who also created the detective Martin Hewitt. Dorrington is on or over the borderline between sleuth and criminal - more the latter. Some of the stories appear in anthologies, e.g. Green's "The Rivals of Sherlock Holmes". The stories are ingenious, and are a must for those interested in the development of crime fiction ( by which I mean stories related to crime in in addition to the pure detective story based on the solution of a puzzle by reason). The book is also full of interesting elements of social history.
