I bought this book with an open mind, wondering how it would relate to Jack Reacher. Now having read it I believe it would have been better without the Jack Reacher connection! I realise this would defeat the object of this series but nevertheless I found it distracting rather than interesting to have constant reminders of Jack knowing full well we would never 'see' him.It is not often I don't write a good review but unfortunately this time this is the best I can do.

Got sucked into this purchase by the mention of Jack Reacher. Struggled through books 1 and 2 but gave up part way through book3. Wait for a real Jack Reacher from Lee Child. This is a poor imitation .

I got a bit bored. Seemed a lot of repetition through out the book. That of course could be me.

Slow Start, but gets a bit better, it's still not a Reacher.

The latest and long awaited sequel in THE HUNT FOR JACK REACHER series. The book opens with a murder and it took me a few moments to put this in perspective however, Diane resets the chronology for the reader and reminds us where we are up to in Otto and Gaspars's hunt for Reacher. A few red herrings and a few clues along the way to suggest where the book is going.Had difficulty putting it down, just as with Lee Child's book.As with Lee Child's book I am now waiting for the next one by Diane.Highly reccommended

I find reading these books very strange, the author takes a great character 'Jack Reacher' and then tries unsuccessfully to weave a new story around him.If you like the 'Reacher' novels these will disappoint.

Having read Don't know Jack by the same author, and being fairly underwhelmed, I thought I would give this a whirl. I wasn't expecting a great deal, but I have to admit it was considerably better than the first book in the series and actually I really enjoyed it. Although Reacher is still on the periphary, spoken of but never seen, there is far more of his back story in this issue. Ok as a Reacher fan there are still issues, not least a clumsy attempt at rewriting the back story from Bad Luck and Trouble, which is a bit unbelievable if I'm honest, but in my opinion this is balanced out by the action and increased sense that Reacher is going to appear. I am beginning to enjoy Diane Capri's writing style, and the characters of Otto and Gaspar are becoming more believable, even if their pointless racial barbs do grate (Suzie Wong?). I am looking forward to the next instalment and would recommend to all but the most diehard Reacher fans (unless you can go into it without expecting it to be a Reacher book).

Having read all of Lee Childs books to date I've blazed through the Hunt For Jack Reacher series quickly with this, Get Back Jack, the most recent. After a little bit of culture shock, mostly through the difference of Capri vs Child styles, I actually found myself enjoying the stories and our intrepid FBI duo of Otto and Gaspar. Unlike the Child stories where Reachers life is rarely, unless it's the focus of the plot, looked at beyond where it is at that moment we do get to find little bits to relate to our main characters here.So on to Get Back Jack. In this we get to see a fan favourite character in Francis Neagley, ex colleague of Jack Reacher. In some ways I'm not sure Capri caught the essence of the character the Child gave us. I do however wonder if this is due to her being seen through the lens of Otto and Gaspar and as such the descriptions and context of her actions are lost, as we don't have Jack's insight to guide us.The plot itself is an interesting one showing the aftermath of Childs novel "Bad Luck and Trouble". Members of the 101 are disappearing and Otto and Gaspar find themselves pulled along in the resulting investigation/chaos/carnage.I'm looking forward to the next novel and hopefully the new concept doesn't wear thin too quickly but eventually there needs to be a payoff or at least a crossover!
